After a decade long passionless marriage, Rachel Brown, a black thirty-five year old divorced woman, is on her own. She escaped the brutal winter of her Chicago home town and her well-meaning matchmaker friends for an apartment near her parent’s Florida retirement village. Her winter blues soon surrender to the warm Florida sun and the enticing waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Her life only gets better when she meets Gary, an older white semi- retired wealthy man who she mistook for a down-and-out beach bum when they first met on the beach. Although fifteen years her senior, he introduces her to passions of the flesh hitherto unknown to her even after ten years of marriage to her childhood sweetheart.
Gary is called away suddenly on business leaving Rachel no idea when – or even if – he will ever return and she has no way to contact him. Her newly awakened passion hungers for him and she misses him terribly. What should she do? Should she continue to wait for him or start seeing other men to fulfill the passions Gary has ignited in her?
This is her story of her quest to find happiness under the warm Florida sun.
